Scientists have found that in the day of rest in the athlete’s body increases sharply an oxygen consumption. This is due to the fact that the damaged muscle in the workout need to “be renovated”, well, this renovation” requires an additional energy consumption. You probably know that its main source during the rest is fat, that’s turns that in a day of rest the athlete burns more fat than usual. The more intensive is your workout, the more fat you will lose during the rest. This assumption was confirmed in the experiment of American scientists. They devided the women in fitness into two groups. One group trained with a low intensity (9 strength exercises for 2 sets of 15 repetitions) and the other with high (9 exercises for 2 sets of 8 repetitions). Weight in the second case was much more bigger.
Scientists assessed the consumption of fat on the circumstantial evidence – the assimilation of oxygen. The fact that oxidizes, in other words, “burns” fat the air oxygen entering into the blood during respiration. So, the more oxygen you spend, the more fat you lose.

As a result, was found that during the workout a rate of oxygen requirements was similar in both groups. But the next day a group of high intensity, it was higher by nearly 8%!
